Basin, Wyoming is a farmer's town and is county seat of Big Horn County. Big Horn County is located in the northern part of Wyoming's Big Horn Basin along US Highway 16/20.

The principle industries in Big Horn County are bentonite mining, farming, sugar beet & bean processing, and tourism.

The entire county is business ready with: 500 miles of fiber optic backbone; high speed Internet; wireless Internet; VOIP & lone VOIP; dedicated bandwidth for teleconferencing; wide open spaces ready for expansion; buildings available to rent/buy; low labor cost; workforce training grants available; easy highway, air and railroad access. The area is very family oriented—a place where children can still walk to school safely with very low crime rates.

Basin lies in perhaps one of the most scenic counties in northern Wyoming. The county offers many attractions, including the Big Horn National Forest & Antelope Butte Ski Area, Pryor Mountain Wild Horse Refuge, Greybull Museum and Dinosaur Tracksite, Bighorn Reservoir Recreation Area, Shell Falls, Paintrock and Medicine Wheel.

Basin City, as it was first called, came into prominence in 1896 as a candidate for the seat of Big Horn County, beating out the city of Cody, which then broke away from Big Horn County to form its own county.

In 1910, the citizens of Basin began a tree and shrub planting campaign and a "lilac town" drive in 1936. Today, the streets and approaching highways are among the finest in Wyoming, lined with perfumed hedges and glorious shade trees.

Its long history and excellent location make Basin a prime location for families and businesses.
