Wyoming's infrastructure and transportation system includes a statewide high-speed telecommunications network, interstates connecting to major markets, 10 commercial service airports, and class I railroads. Wyoming Infrastructure: Communications: Wyoming invested $29 million in a statewide high-speed telecommunications network. Dubbed the Wyoming Equality Network, its primary goal has been to connect all of Wyoming’s public schools to better utilize teaching and information resources across the entire state. Wyoming Transportation: Interstates: Located at the crossroads of the United States, Wyoming is close to major markets in Denver, Colorado and Salt Lake City, Utah. Interstate 25 runs north and south from Montana to Colorado through Casper and Cheyenne, the two largest cities in Wyoming. Running east to west, Interstate 80 passes through Cheyenne, Laramie, Rawlins, Rock Springs, Green River and Evanston before it exits Wyoming toward Salt Lake City, Utah. Interstate 90 runs along the northern section of Wyoming through Gillette and Sheridan connecting to the upper Midwest and northwest markets. Airports: Wyoming has 36 public airports, including 10 commercial service airports, all of which connect to Denver International Airport and/or Salt Lake International Airport. Casper provides daily flights to Minneapolis. Railroads: The Union Pacific and Burlington Northern Santa Fe serve as Class I railroads crisscrossing the state. During the 2003 Wyoming Legislative Session, Wyoming legislators created the Business Ready Community Grant and Loan Program to promote economic development at the city, town and county level. This program provides financing for publicly owned infrastructure that serves the needs of businesses and promotes economic development within Wyoming communities. Cities, towns, counties, joint powers boards and both Tribes are eligible to apply for funding. Public infrastructure that is eligible for funding includes water; sewer; streets and roads; airports; rights of way; telecommunications; land; spec buildings; amenities within a business park, industrial park, industrial site or business district; landscaping, recreation and educational facilities; and other physical projects in support of primary economic and educational development.
